Scholarships for the Tribes Since 2005
The Southwest Native American Foundation (SWNAF) was founded in 2004. In September of 2005, the Internal Revenue Service granted us 501(c)3 status. As a legal non-profit organization, all donations to SWNAF are tax-deductible. We have awarded hundreds of individual scholarships to hundreds of talented and deserving students. Those scholarships were used to help pay for college and summer programs.
Over the years, we have awarded over $500,000 to more than 400 graduating seniors headed off to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, the University of Arizona in Tucson, Duke University, Georgetown University, Grand Canyon University, the University of New Mexico, Stanford University, Coconino Community College, and so many more.
All SWNAF staff and board members are volunteers. We are forever grateful to all of our donors. We hope to continue building and growing the SWNAF endowment so that Native students in the American southwest may have more equal access to the quality education that every student deserves.
As for the future—we hope to create even more opportunities for students, such as connecting them to learning opportunities like Upward Bound and study abroad. We also hope to bring relevant speakers into schools to discuss the role of higher education in their own success and personal empowerment. We also welcome ideas. If you have one, let us know.
